Fall Break Staycation Ideas in the Decatur and Morgan County for $10 Or Less

If you’re staying in town for Fall Break, you *might* be looking for fun outside your homestead at some point during the week.  Likewise, you probably want to find activities that won’t bust the bank. Just in case, we’ve put together several great options for $10 or less!

Park It

The SNAP playground can be a great way to add to the fun.

Morgan County has some amazing parks and playgrounds! Here are two of our favorites.

Get Artsy

The Carnegie Visual Arts Center’s latest exhibit will certainly brighten up your fall break!

Since opening in 2003, the vision of the Carnegie Visual Arts Center has been to provide educational and cultural opportunities to the community. You will want to see the current exhibit Energy on Paper: Diverse Expressions in Pencil, Paint, and Ink!

Explore Mother Nature

Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge is rich in wildlife and recreation opportunities. There are hiking trails for all levels of ability and lots of opportunities to watch wildlife do its wildlife thing and to photograph the wonders all around you.

Step Back in Time

One of our favorite historic spots in Decatur is the Depot. The historic Decatur Union Passenger Depot, constructed by the Southern Railway in 1905, symbolizes the city’s rich railroad heritage, which dates back to the 1830s. Tours are available Monday through Friday. Come for the history, stay for the train watching! Train enthusiasts of all ages can enjoy watching the trains passing by the depot, as well as exploring the model trains inside.

Scare Up Some Fun

Ok, they’re not actually scary-scary, more like scary how creative these scarecrows are! The Scarecrow Trail will once again be held at Veteran’s Park in Priceville until November 5.
