Scott's Orchard apple

Scott’s Orchard has been growing apples since 1927 and five generations later they are still one of North Alabama favorite orchards. Found at many local farmers markets, paper bags of Scotts apples can also be bought right at the orchard. But only since the Fall of 2017 has the public been allowed to pick their own! With over 90 acres of apples, Scotts Orchard has plans to expand in the future.

There are currently a couple of varieties of apples available, with more to be expected throughout the season. Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, and Gala are available now. They also produce peaches during the season around June.

Scott’s Orchard Apple Picking Tips

  • Do they spray their apples? Yes. As a conventional farm, they use an IPM (Integrated Pest Management) program that targets specific pests and diseases with the sprays.
  • Washing stations are available at the orchard. At home a solution soak of 1 Cup White Vinegar in a filled kitchen sink with lukewarm water for about 10 minutes, then rinse for a natural way to clean your produce effectively. Store the apples in the refrigerator if you like them cold an crisp.
  • Apple wagons are available on site for free to use to help navigate the orchards. Small kids (under age 5) are allowed in the wagons if desired.
  • Wear closed-toed shoes and prepare for the kids to want to play on the hay bail playground with slides!
  • There are bathrooms onsite but no changing tables.

Apple Slice ‘Donuts’
Use an apple corer to remove core from apple.
