Homework Alabama is a Hidden Gem for Local Students
Report cards have officially gone out, and across the county parents are feeling a range of emotions. For students that are struggling, many parents feel helpless – the years spent outside of a classroom make it difficult to assist children with new work. (Common core math, anyone?) Working families struggle to find time to go over homework, and if there is a child in the home playing a sport or participating in an extracurricular activity, time is precious and hard won between schedules. For students looking for guidance to continue achieving Homework Alabama is also a great resource. It’s without a doubt a real game-changer for many families.
I have been invited to many school open houses to help with library card signups. For the past year, I’ve been sharing the good word of Tutor.com to families who stop by the library. Every child in Alabama has a secret weapon in the quest for better understanding of school assignments and better grades. This resource is absolutely FREE, and is so easy to use.

Mandy Pinyan has been a passionate book lover from an early age, where being busted for bringing Stephen King to school (a book, not the guy) led to much reading by flashlight. She turned out okay. She is the Youth Services Coordinator and Manager of Outreach Services at the Huntsville Madison County Public Library Extension and Outreach Department, where she can be seen driving a Rainbow Van or a Bookmobile in between gigs. Mom to a tween, Adelyn and wife to a ruggedly handsome outdoorsman with an obsession with planting bamboo, Mandy finds enjoyment in painting, gardening and geeking out over various pop culture. A small menagerie of pets - dachshunds Matt Damon and Angel, kitty BB and Boston-Chihuahua-chupacabra mix Bailey just make the chaos complete.
